John McKillop
is the Real Deal.

John McKillop is a Greenville, South Carolina–based author, physician, and genuine dusty bourbon collector. Every bottle, tasting note, and piece of insider knowledge in Bourbon Brothers comes from his own collection and years inside the bourbon community.

In 2020, John co-founded the Medicinal Whiskey Charity alongside the real-life Distinguished Gentleman’s Club — the same crew the novel is based on. To date, MWC has raised over $2 million for children’s charities across the Carolinas.

Bourbon Brothers was written without generative AI. The scenes, characters, and bourbon lore originated in John’s own bourbon-soaked brain — first as a feature screenplay in 2019, then converted to novel form in 2022.
